Are you a licensed contractor?
Ask to see the contractor’s current Florida license
and write down either the contractor’s name or
license number. Then verify that the license is
valid and current by going to www.myfloridalicense.com
and clicking on
Verify a License
.
Our Florida contractor’s license number is CBC053000.
How long have you been in the construction business?
Some contractors are relatively new to construction and may not be able to identify or
properly resolve issues with your home’s structure. Also, a good contractor should be
able to answer all of your questions to your satisfaction.
John Anderson has been part of the construction industry since 1977. His
knowledge of building construction comes from years of working in all facets of
the industry.
Do you carry general liability and workers compensation insurance?
Ask to have insurance certificates mailed or faxed to you at your address by the
insurance providers. Your contractor should have both general liability and workers
compensation insurance.
We carry general liability insurance and our subcontractors are required to have
their own coverage as well. All of our employees and subcontractors are also
covered under workers compensation insurance.
How long have you been in the Tampa Bay area?
Make sure the contractor has been in business in this area for at least two years. If
you have problems, you’ll want to be able to find them.
John Anderson became a licensed building contractor in 1991, has lived and
worked in the Tampa Bay area since 1985 and has been incorporated as John
Anderson Building Contractor, Inc. since 1995.
Do you offer a workmanship warranty in addition to the product warranties?
Most contractors offer at least a one year warranty. Ask for a copy of their written
warranty.
We offer a five year written workmanship warranty on most major projects in
addition to the product warranties provided by manufacturers.
Click here to see our warranty.
Do you have any references?
Ask for a list of references including addresses of homes you can drive by to see the
work for yourself. The contractor should also be able to provide names and phone
numbers of previous customers.
Our references will be provided on request. In the meantime, please visit our
"Customer Comments" page.
